Prominently positioned on the cobbled high street in the heart of medieval Rye, The George in Rye is the perfect base from which to explore the town. This unique sixteenth-century coaching inn has been thoughtfully renovated and creatively reimagined to offer a luxurious retreat combining contemporary design with lovingly restored original features and artefacts.
As the central coaching inn in Rye, The George’s Dragon Bar has long been one of the town’s most popular drinking venues. The pub serves local ales, draught cider, and continental beers. There’s also a wide selection of wines by the glass, with a strong focus on local vineyards.

The George’s Grill restaurant is literally and metaphorically the heart of the hotel where you can dine in relaxed comfort and style. As its name suggests, the kitchen’s central focus is its wood-charcoal grill on which most dishes are cooked. The menu focuses on sourcing local, fresh produce such as freshly caught seafood from Rye Bay, local Romney Marsh lamb and seasonal vegetables grown by local farmers. During the Scallop Festival, head chef Oscar and his team will be offering some exclusive scallop dishes. Be sure to book your table in advance to avoid disappointment.
Lunch is served daily from 12-3pm
